Guest Speaker: Paul Ollinger, Writer, Comedian, Podcaster
Host: Alison Comstock Moss, Chief Strategy Officer, Principal, Paul Comstock Partners, PPI Dean of Family Sustainability & Empowerment
What do you do when work is no longer about money? Having spent decades laser-focused on building a business, the newly-“liberated” find themselves adrift and searching for their identity. In their new reality, they struggle to answer not only “What do you do?” but the more important, underlying question: “Who am I?”
Paul offers empathy, encouragement, and practical steps to move forward and begin this second act. He shares hilarious anecdotes of his own bewilderment after retiring from Facebook at 42 years-old and how he then launched a career as a stand-up comedian.
Introduction to Our Guest Speaker
Paul Ollinger is a writer, comedian, and podcaster. An early employee at Facebook, Paul “retired”at 42 and found himself bored out of his mind. He started the Crazy Money podcast to explore the connection between money, happiness, work, and meaning. In 1:1 conversations with some of the world’s most interesting people, Paul helps uncover the true sources of happiness in life and what money, success, and fame can (and can’t) do for us. Previous interviewees include prominent authors, academics, celebrities, and winners of the Nobel Prize, Heisman Trophy, and Olympic gold medals.
Paul is also a nationally-touring comedian who has opened for Daniel Tosh, Dave Attell, and Chelsea Handler. He has also opened for major music acts, including Styx and Collective Soul. In 2019, Paul headlined the legendary Carolines on Broadway in New York City as part of their Breakout Artist Series. A Finalist at the Boston and San Diego Comedy Festivals, Paul plays comedy clubs, country clubs, corporate events, and dirty bars all over North America.
He lives in Atlanta with his wife and two tween-children.
