I’m “Giving Twice” with a T-CRUT: Leaving a Legacy to Benefit My Son & My Values

Rate This Session

August 2nd at Noon ET / 11:00am CT (60 minutes)

Guest Speaker: Kathleen M. Rehl, PH.D., CFP®, CeFT®, PPI Dean Emeritus

Host:  John A. Warnick, Esq., Founder, Purposeful Planning Institute

Description: The IRS proposed regulations on the SECURE Act is a hot topic. Articles have been published and educational programs presented about the death of the stretch IRA and the use of a testamentary charitable remainder trust (T-CRUT) to overcome the 10-year rule. However, those mostly discuss theoretical cases.  This session shares Kathleen’s story from her heart about why and how she set up her T-CRUT.

Introduction to Our Guest Speaker

Kathleen M. Rehl, PhD, CFP®, CeFT®

Kathleen wrote the multi-award-winning book, Moving Forward on Your Own: A Financial Guidebook for Widows after her late husband’s death. About 80,000 copies are in circulation today. She owned Rehl Financial Advisors for 18 years before retiring to a six-year encore career of empowering widows and their advisors through her speaking, writing, and research. She made over 300 presentations across the country.

As a zesty Boomer, she gratefully gives and grows . . . using skills and experiences to encourage others to live their best life, too. In 2020 she “reFired”! That’s NOT vintage retirement. Rather, this chapter is about family, fun, focused purpose, friends, and fitness. As a nonprofit ambassador, she helps charitable organizations grow their endowments through planned gifts. Kathleen still pens pieces about widows and money; however, she focuses on legacy writing—stories, poems, and letters.

Her work has been featured in more than 175 professional, academic, and popular publications. She writes regularly for Humble Dollar, Sixty & Me, and AgeBuzz. Her website is https://KathleenRehl.com.
