Guest Speaker: Judy Zerafa

Summary:  Judy Zerafa, founder of the Go For It! Institute, shared with us the inspiring story of how the Go For It! Institute came to be and discussed the major challenges that young people and the education system face today.  In response to these challenges Judy has created the Seven Keys to Success Program that provides teachers with the tools and knowledge needed to teach young people the Seven Keys to Success.  Currently, The Go For It! Institute is working towards reaching more educators and would like to see the program included in university curriculum across the nation.  In addition, a new book will be available soon for parents and families.

Important Points:

  • Among the 30 developed nations in the world Finland, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, and Canada rank the highest in academic achievement.  The Unites States is currently ranked number 27.
  • A poll by the National Institute for Student Motivation shows that teachers spend 20-60% percent of every classroom day teaching life skills, values clarification and discipline, leaving limited time for academics.
  • In schools that implement The Seven Keys to Success program referral disciplines in one year drop by an average of 75% and absenteeism drops by 50-75%.
